This is Aside Manga News for July 15th, 2026.
While Gallery Zenon in Tokyo usually hosts art exhibitions, starting on July 17th a different experience will be taking over. The “Umezz Horror House: Drifting Classroom and Thought Experiment Exhibition” will open up as part of the 90th anniversary celebration of Kazou Umezz’s birth. This is not an art exhibition with original pieces of work on display. Instead this will function more like a “haunted house” experience.
Fans can purchase standard tickets for 5000 yen each, and can be in a maximum group of 7 people. Tickets must be purchased for a pre-determined timeslot, and the entire event will take about 60 minutes to complete. If you are late, you can not join, so they recommend that you arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled time. Student discounts exist, but the event is not recommended for children under the age of 14.
The horror house will put you into the survival scenarios inspired by Kazou Umezz’s The Drifting Classroom where you’ll need to make extreme choices in order to survive and escape. The event is designed so if you haven’t read the original manga, which is available in English from Viz Media, you can still enjoy the experience.
The event is being constructed by No More, a company that has created a similar “Thought Experiment Exhibitions” in 2025 and 2026 which collectively had over 20,000 attendees. Tickets are on sale now, and the event runs through September 6th in the Gallery Zenon space located in Musashino City, Tokyo. With the exception of an early bird gift for attendees who sign-up before July 31st, no other merchandise has been announced to be on sale. The Gallery Zenon Annex Shop which is attached to the Gallery is likely to remain open which has a wide range of goods on sale, and sometimes extra items that were not sold at previous exhibitions. Most recently, the Gallery held a Comic Bunch Art Exhibition celebrating the 25 years of the publication. This original art exhibition for Comic Bunch concluded on July 5th but some of the items will be able to be ordered online starting on July 17th.
