This is Aside Manga News for August 14th, 2026.
A new Japanese manga publisher and digital reading service “MangaBu!” will launch Monday, August 17th in Japan. While pricing, site functionality, and app details haven’t been announced yet, there will be at least 15 brand new serializations added at launch. As of today, 14 of these serializations have been announced coming from a wide range of mangaka. The following are those new series launching in Japan on Monday:
Kome to Hana to, Awai to. by Daisuke Higuchi. The story is about 2 childhood friends and a sake brewery. The author is best known for her Whistle! manga series that was published in Weekly Shonen Jump between 1998 and 2002. It also received an English print and digital editions from Viz media.
Kono koi, seiyaku-ritsu nan-percent desu ka? by Komeko. A love story between an employee and her male boss that begin to live together. The author is best known for her short series Break It which was published digitally in English on Renta!
Gaichuu with the story by the Live Action Drama Producer Hiroki Ueda and manga illustration by Kouzou Takahashi. The story is based around a group of a high-paying freelancer city police force. The artist is best known for his work Crueler Than Dead which was published in English by Ablaze.
Iruka by Etsuko. This is a heartwarming story about a boy’s life in a seaside town. The author is best known for their manga series that got a live action adaptation on Amazon Prime Video under the title More Than Words, which is still streaming worldwide with English subtitles.
Ma horoba no sora, utakata no kyodai by Kunihiko Ikeda. The story is about siblings who begin to question if someone is controlling the town they live in. They are best known for Kokkyou no Emilia which ran in Shogakukan’s Gessan magazine with 15 volumes published and other manga series based around trains.
Komagome-kun ha nakasetai by Ine Arinaga. This is a highschool comedy between a demon and a human girl. The author is currently serialized on Cmoa with Kamisama’s End Roll and has been a professional mangaka since 2011 across several publishers. She also has provided some translation of English manga into Japanese under a separate pen name.
Harai ya-san by Sou Watanabe. A Dark Fantasy Exorcist manga. Has not been previously serialized.
D’Éon de Beaumont by Fuyuko Kurosaki. A romantic spy series set in 18th century France. She has been serialized in Comic Beam magazine since October 2019 with 3 different series, and their current series still ongoing.
Drawn By A Man with No Childcare Experience #ParentingManga by Tondabayashironge. He’s best known for drawing short gag manga often featuring kids and babies.
Geinin yakuza with the story by Bunta Kawamoto and art by Hironori Kawabata. This is a story about a failed comedian who enters the serious underworld of the Yakuza. The artist previously drew the 4 volume series “Gokudou Paradise” in Kodansha’s Friday magazine. Bunta Kawamoto is half of the Manzai comedy duo “Double Booking”.
Inner Palace – Last Woman Standing [Remake Edition] with the story by Xi Manjie and art by Xiao Xinyu. This was originally a Chinese vertical scroll webtoon series on BiliBili that also received an Japanese translation. This will adapt the Chinese fantasy story into a traditional manga page layout.
Houkago Percussion Inokoruchu by Ikue Aizawa. A story about high school girls and percussion instruments. She is best known for the Modigliani ni Onegai series which had 5 volumes and published in Shogakukan’s Big Comic Zoukan.
The Bomber’s Daughter with story by Aki Kajiwara and illustrations by Umematsu. This will be a manga adaptation of the nonfiction novel by the same name. The mangaka is best known for their previous 2 volume series Thundering Spring Has Come.
Times Tetepam by Mai Inoue. It is a mysterious manga about neighborhood life. The mangaka is best known for their Daijobu Club manga.
