This is Aside Manga News for August 9th, 2026.

Last weekend at Otakon 2026, Manga Mavericks Books has sent a request out to fans to help track down old issues of Monthly Asuka magazine. In particular they are looking for chapters of The Sword of Paros that was serialized in the magazine, as they contain color pages that were unique to that printing. With the series being published in 1986 & 1987, the color pages are not in a condition from the Japanese publisher where they can be reprinted for the upcoming English deluxe edition of the manga. The hope is that these near lost color pages can then be archived and enjoyed by fans who will read the upcoming book. Anyone who pre-orders the deluxe print edition from the Manga Mavericks Books online store will also receive an exclusive shikishi board.

As of this video, the following issues of Monthly Asuka magazine are still being looked for:

June 1986

August 1986

November 1986

January 1987

February 1987

If you happen to own any of these issues, or know of someone who does, please reach out to the Manga Mavericks Books on social media to assist in archiving these color pages.

Over on Manga Properties, in advance of this news video, we have done an additional deep-dive into all of the color pages that were printed in Monthly Asuka magazine for the series. So if they are unable to track down all of the color pages, you can still get a taste on what was included in some of these lost pages. And if you would like to see what other series were running alongside The Sword of Paros in Monthly Asuka magazine during these years, we have some additional articles on Manga Properties covering the Table of Contents for all the issues between 1985 through 1987.
