The live action sequel to the adaptation of the Sins of Kujo manga has been announced. The sequel will be released in Japan as a full length movie on January 8th, 2027. With this new movie announcement, a new trailer has also released.
The first live action adaptation came in the form of a TV series which was simultaneously released on Netflix worldwide. The series was 10 episodes in length, and the final episode concluded with several key unresolved plot points. This live action movie will be a direct continuation of the events from the TV show. As this will be a movie shown in theaters, it’s unclear when this movie will be available for international fans who watched the first season. All of the main cast from the original TV series will return in this sequel movie.
The Sins of Kujo manga, created by Shohei Manabe, was originally published Weekly Big Comic Spirits starting back in October 2020 and is still ongoing. The manga began its publication just a month after the start of the Orb: On the Movements of the Earth manga series by Uoto. Both series had a strong focus on the human elements and the risks the main characters are willing to take in pursuit of their own personal code. The live action adaptation of Sins of Kujo spends very little time in a court room or dealing with legal proceedings, and focuses on Kujo and his clients. The original manga series has not been licensed in English and the 17th volume of the series will be on sale August 3rd in Japan. The series has over 5 million copies sold.
One of Shohei Manabe’s previous works, Smuggler, was previously released in English. First in 2006 by Tokyopop, and then again in 2014 by One Peace Books. Both English editions of the Smuggler manga are out of print.
