This is Aside Manga News for July 29th, 2026.

To celebrate Young Magazine Web for surpassing 5 million members, the Japanese online manga service has created a new mascot character. Her name is “Webuko” and was designed by Kei Keiyama who is best known for his on-going serialization, Zeikin de Katta Hon, or in English, Books Bought with Taxes. This manga series, which started on the Young Magazine Web service later was moved into Kodansha’s Weekly Young Magazine.

In addition to the design, they also provided some details about the new mascot. She is 25 years old and is a laid-back slacker who only occasionally works part time. She spends most of her time reading Young Magazine Web since it’s free and relies on her more responsible older brother for daily life. Because she has become lazy, that’s potentially why she has grown pig ears and a tail. The pig design matches the current mascot for the brand.

Along with design by Kei Keiyama, several other manga-ka drew their own interpretations of the new mascot as well.

First was Satomi U, who is known for Heisei Haizanhei Sumire-chan being published in Weekly Young Magazine.

Next was Ko Nikaido, mangaka for the series, With You and the Rain, which is currently being published by Kodansha in English.

Then was Zurikishi, who is currently publishing Me and the Prez, Drinking Under the Stars, which will start it’s English release by Seven Seas in November.

Next was by Mari Gangi, who is serialized in Weekly Young Magazine with My Little Sister Knows.

Then was Nishi Nadai, with their on-going Bouryoku Banzai in Weekly Young Magazine.

Next was NyanNyanFactory, who is currently serialized with Chainsmoker Cat, and being published in English by Seven Seas and also has a new anime series this season.

And lastly was Super Takeda, who is serialized with Dare Demo Dakeru Kimi ga Suki, also in Weekly Young Magazine.
