This is Aside Manga News for July 30th, 2026.

IDW Publishing has announced that they will be releasing the Sonic the Hedgehog The Blade of Courage manga by Yuki Imada in English on the IDW app. The first chapter is available right now on the IDW app, it’s 57 pages in length, and costs $3.99 USD. It is unclear how frequently the next chapters will be released in English. The series is currently serialized in Monthly Corocoro Comic, with 14 chapters released in Japan so far. After the first chapter, each chapter is about 33 pages in length and new chapters are published around the middle of each month in Japan. It is also unclear if future chapters will have a reduced cost with a lower page count or not.

When the first chapter was released, the IDW app did contain AI generated reviews which contained factual errors and were not representative of real reviews for the manga. At the time of this video, these AI reviews have been removed and various updates have been made to correct the inaccuracies. The manga itself is worked on by humans and is not AI generated or contains machine translation in its original creation by Yuki Imada or it’s localization staff. The IDW app also features a collection of other Sonic comics that are available for digital purchase.

Before creating this Sonic manga, Yuki Imada had created the Shadow the Hedgehog manga that also ran in Monthly Corocoro Comic in Japan. Earlier this month, as reported in our July 14th video, the single Shadow The Hedgehog manga volume will be getting a reprint in Japan due to its popularity. While this Sonic the Hedgehog The Blade of Courage will be the first manga by Yuki Imada available in English, he previously contributed illustrations to the Survival Japanese with Sonic the Hedgehog book. That entirely English book was published by Kadokawa and is available now from some retailers in Japan, specifically targeting tourists.
