This is Aside Manga News for July 22nd, 2026.

To celebrate it’s 6th anniversary of serialization, the author of Me & Roboco, Shuhei Miyazaki, had a collaboration and interview with the Dangerous Grandpa series and author, Kazutoshi Soyama. The 2004 anime series of Dangerous Grandpa was marketed towards international licensors under the title Grandpa Danger, but it was never picked up for an English release. However this title was what was used in chapter 290 of Me & Roboco which released on July 19th.

The Dangerous Grandpa manga series has become a staple of Corocoro Comics since it’s serialization started in the June 2001 issue. Over the years the series has had numerous titles, and is still ongoing to this day. In addition to being in the standard Monthly Corocoro Comics, it often jumps to other Shogakukan magazines with spin-offs or one chapter specials.

Each chapter typically focuses around the grandfather figure about how to survive in life. It has numerous gags and scenarios that often are dangerous, disgusting, or deep puns with visual jokes. With its primary serialization in Corocoro Comic, it is aimed at school-aged children. Younger fans of Shonen Jump who grew up in Japan would likely be more familiar with this series. Included in the Japanese print release of Weekly Shonen Jump and on the Japanese Jump+ website was an interview between Me & Roboco author, Shuhei Miyazaki and the Dangerous Grandpa author, Kazutoshi Soyama.

For international fans, a series of Dangerous Grandpa cards were a part of the “Corocoro Start Deck Pack” for the Cardfight!! Vanguard game in English. This set was released in English on May 30th, 2025 and contained cards from Dangerous Grandpa, Fate Rewinder, Black Channel,  Oversided Dekka-kun, and Bebebebe Baby manga series. With the exception of Fate Rewinder, which is getting its official English release on October 27th, this card set is one way you can see a bit more of these other Corocoro manga series that are not available in English yet.
