This is Aside Manga News for October 21st, 2026.

Due to a recently announced security vulnerability with the PHP framework, numerous online manga services have proactively turned their websites and apps into a maintenance mode and are not available. Some of these sites and apps are:

  • K Manga
  • Manga Plaza
  • Manga Plus
  • Manga Million
  • The Japanese “Weekly Corocoro Comic” website
  • The Japanese “Magazine Pocket” website

This list of impacted services is also likely to grow, including numerous Japanese-based manga services which often share technical backends that would need to be patched individually.

While there are frequent security vulnerabilities that can occur with websites, the high severity rating of this particular issue caused an immediate response. The previously mentioned websites have taken this proactive measure to put their services into this maintenance mode while they wait for the fix to be applied. During typical maintenance windows, there is usually only a downtime of an hour or so, and have an expected timeframe when the services would be restored. Based on the timing of the patch for this issue, this occurred in the middle of the night in Japan, causing these maintenance windows to last for several hours and were open-ended on when it would be completed. None of these sites have reported being targeted by an specific attack, so any payment information and user information should still be secure at this time. The K Manga and Japanese Magazine Pocket services also noted that any scheduled releases for today may also be delayed.

Most other websites will likely have a maintenance downtime sometime over the next day as the patch is being applied. These updates will often impact both the web browser and apps. Updates about when the services will be restored will likely to be communicated via their social media channels.
